Best Albanian Beaches

Updated: Oct 26, 2019

Albania is a beautiful country in South-Eastern Europe that definitely needs more attention! With pristine waters, white beaches, cobblestone streets and olive groves, Albania is the perfect European summer destination for half the price of Greece or Italy.

In no particular order, here are the top 8 beaches in Albania and what makes them special and unique! Let's get started.

Dhërmi Beach is one of the longest and most popular beaches in Albania. Situated in Dhërmi Town, it can be the most crowded during the summer but also one of the most beautiful. Its white rock aesthetic and nightlife is a crowd pleaser and is definitely a must-see when visiting Albania.

If you want to get away from the crowds at Dhërmi Beach, head to nearby Drymades Beach for more peace and quiet in the same beautiful setting. Much less people visit this beach but the water is crystal clear, the rock white in the sun, and a calming atmosphere awaits you.

Livadhi Beach is located in the village of Himara and is famous for the lush olive trees surrounding the beach and its deep blue water. The beach is divided into two parts: Gonia and Apelistra, both famous for the white rock in the water. There is also another small beach to the north named Fusa which can be even more private. This is the perfect place to relax, enjoy nature, and swim in the calm Ionian sea.

Borsh Beach is 7 kilometres of white pebbles and it is considered to be the least visited beach in Albania, but for no good reason! With views of the hills and beautiful waters, it's a beach you should put on your list when in Albania.

Pulebardha beach, located in the popular town of Sarandë within Butrint National Park, is small but beautiful. It's a pebbly beach surrounded by nature and the crystal clear waters cannot be missed! It might be a little difficult to get there but, once you do, you'll know that it was worth it.

Mango Beach is another beach in Sarandë with great amenities and beautiful views. It's a really good place to base yourself out of if you want to explore more of Southern Albania. Come to this beach for the vibrant atmosphere and the warm waters.

Ksamil Beach is considered to be the "Ionian Pearl" as it is often deemed the most beautiful spot on the Albanian Riviera. There are multiple islands off of the town of Ksamil and Ksamil beach is in this area. You can swim here or come by boat. Corfu is also visible in the distance and you can soak up the European sun on this beautiful beach. The only advice is to not come in August as it gets very busy.

Gjipe Beach requires a 30 minute trek to get to but it is so worth the hike! The beach is hidden by the mountains, squeezed between high cliffs. It's picturesque, quaint, and will leave you wanting more. You can walk along the coast and find even smaller beaches and caves if you have the time. Make sure to bring water and snacks to this secluded bay.
